FORMAT & REQUIREMENTS

2025 GDVI Fall All-Gender Step Retreat

FORMAT: During the retreat weekend we will read and share on the 12 Steps together. There will be reading, sharing and writing throughout the weekend. If you have worked on the steps in this type of format before, you already know its value. If you have not done any study of the Steps, intensive or otherwise, this is a great way to do it, especially for the first time. It gives you hope and faith that the program steps work. Regardless of where any one individual is in the Step study process, we are able to learn from sharing our experience, strength and hope with each other.

FLEXIBILITY – Attendees should be willing to be open, flexible and supportive of the retreat coordinators and attendees throughout the weekend.

QUALIFICATION – Attendees must identify as a Sex & Love Addict or think you have a problem with Sex & Love addiction.

CHOOSING LEADERS AND SPEAKERS -There will be leaders and speakers selected at random at the Friday’s opening session. We trust our Higher Power in this process and know whoever is chosen to speak or lead is strengthening their own recovery and offering value to ours. This also determines when you will be required to participate in service on the schedule. For this reason, we have a “No Come and Go” policy.“

NO COME-AND-GO’ POLICY: Once you register, it is expected that you will remain a retreat participant until your scheduled check-out time. This is not an open house where you can show up or leave throughout the weekend. The success of this retreat requires everyone to participate together to share and grow in the S.L.A.A program. Plan on being on-site Friday by 5pm, Saturday 8am-9pm, and Sunday 8am – 3pm. Please refrain from registering or discuss with the retreat coordinators before you register if you can not be in attendance from start to end time Saturday and Sunday.

SELF-CARE TIME – There may be time during the retreat when you want to step away and go for a walk, take a nap, or meditate. You are free to do this as long as it doesn’t conflict with the volunteer duties you’ve signed up for or a speaking/leading role you have been assigned. Take care of yourself.

VALUABLES – Bedroom doors will not be permitted to be locked as rooms are being shared. We recommend leaving valuable items at home, in your car or keeping them with you. GDVI is not responsible for any lost or stolen property.

Pricing & What’s Included

  • All attendees receive a participant workbook, materials, and supplies. Please see the suggested “packing list” for items to bring that may not be available readily on-site.
  • All attendees receive dinner Friday; breakfast, lunch, and dinner Saturday, breakfast and lunch Sunday. 
  • RESIDENT/NON-COMMUTER WEEKEND (limited to 18 people): Attending as a participant and staying overnight Friday through Sunday. $360
  • COMMUTER WEEKEND (limited to 4 people): Attending as a participant Friday through Sunday with no overnight room. Commuter $260

FINANCIAL AID: For those with need, a limited amount of partial financial aid is available. Complete the request form here for consideration by the retreat committee. Use event code “AGSR2025”

FRIDAY ARRIVAL – Check in begins Friday at 3:00 p.m. ET If you will not arrive by 7:00p.m., please discuss with the retreat coordinator before registering.

NO ‘COME-AND-GO’ ATTENDEES, PLEASE! – This is not a recovery day where you can show up or leave throughout the weekend. This retreat requires all participants to participate together to share and grow in the S.L.A.A program. Plan on being on-site Friday by 6pm, Saturday 8am-9pm, and Sunday 8am – 3pm. Please refrain from registering or discuss with the retreat coordinator before you register if you can not be in attendance from start to end time Saturday and Sunday.

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS

  • FULL REFUND: To receive a full refund, you must contact the retreat coordinator  by August 5, 2025.
  • CREDIT ONLY: Requests for refunds after August 5, 2025 may be transferred to another attendee or redeemed as a GDVI retreat voucher for the amount you paid to be applied to future retreats within 12 months. ($25 transfer fee)
  • Any cancellation after Aug. 5., 2025, will receive no refund or credit.
  • GDVI and coordinators reserve the right to cancel any weekend if it does not receive at least 10 reservations by the respective registration dates. You will be refunded in full if this occurs.
  • SOBRIETY AT THE RETREAT: There is no sobriety requirement to attend, but participants MUST STAY SOBER DURING THE WEEKEND. This ensures that everyone can attend in safety and work together to expand our recovery. People will be asked to leave if they do not abide by this rule. No refund will be issued.

ALL REFUNDS: If you paid via credit card or PayPal, a 5% transaction fee may be deducted from your refund to cover fees we have already paid to our bank, depending on how much time has elapsed from initial payment to cancellation.Fall

Inclusivity Statement

During past GDVI events, attendees have reported a PTSD-related retraumitization effect upon hearing shares involving harm or abuse. S.L.A.A. is not a treatment environment and attendees are not serving as mental health professionals, regardless of their possible day job. Addressing such issues is outside of the scope of this event and should be handled by a licensed mental health provider. Our disease of sex and love addiction manifests itself in different ways, which often times results in behaviors that are unlawful including sexual abuse, use of illegal pornography, etc. This retreat is inclusive of individuals working through a history of perpetration of harm. If you are not comfortable or have any reservations about participating in a supportive recovery environment with these participants who are working to prevent harm, please speak with organizers before registering.

Event attendees are cautioned not to share any illegal or potentially unlawful activities they may have engaged in that have not been fully resolved through law enforcement. Doing so puts event participants in a position of being party to criminal activity and some may be compelled to report these activities.

GDVI is not responsible for helping individuals comply with legal, supervisory, regulatory, or SORN requirements. Please contact retreat organizers for a list of third-party resources that may be helpful.

NOTE: If paying IN FULL using VENMO to @slaadvi, you may optionally take off $15 (or leave it as a 7th tradition donation)
With the exception of the retreat coordinators, all rooms are shared unless a medically necessary exception is made.

NOTE: If you are requesting a specific roommate, please encourage them to sign up within 48 hours so we can match you easily.
